Steps of Saqqara, December 2019

This quilt is constructed with four long foundation paper pieced columns (each with only 12 seams), which are repeated and  mirrored through the center. The colors create  a 3-dimensional step effect, and while visually the quilt appears to be a series “Y” seams, foundation paper piecing allows for precision using only straight seams. The pattern fondly reflects the years Sharyl lived in Egypt.

After attending the University of California, Santa Cruz and the Colorado School of Mines, Sharyl was employed in Denver and Houston as a Geologist. She lived overseas for 17 years in London, England; Cairo, Egypt; Buenos Aires, Argentina and Moscow, Russia and has visited over 40 countries.   Upon returning to the United States, Sharyl joined Coldwell Banker, where she subsequently completed the nationally accredited Graduate of REALTOR Institute (GRI) designation.  Sharyl holds multiple designation/certificates and enjoys assisting military repatriating families.
