Martini Quilt: April 2021

Page Content:

The construction order of the Martini Quilt is fun and easy to do. First, inset the trellis in the background fabric. Then, quilt the top, batting and backing together. The last step is to make the circle and oval appliqué shapes, using a very easy method with fusible interfacing. Sew the shapes to the trellis by machine or hand. Adding the shapes after the quilt is quilted really makes them stand out from the trellis!

Finished Size: 55" x 66"

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Sue has been sewing since she was four and quilting since she was twelve. She loves to design and make Modern quilts that are influenced by traditional designs. Her passion is teaching and inspiring others on their creative journey. Sue has taught at many Quilt Guilds, International Festivals, as well as for Craftsy and Craftours throughout the world.

When asked why she loves teaching, Sue said “The most fulfilling part of teaching classes is the ability to explain a method or technique so each student understands and is successful. It is not just the mechanics of how it is made, it is learning why things work and the basics of each step. I love to see how proud they are and say “I can’t believe I actually made this quilt!”
