Special quilts begin with special fabrics. These fabrics can be ones you've collected from family and loved ones, or ones that remind you of special places or things. Blair talks through how to find inspiration through creatively reused vintage and cast off fabrics into beautiful quilts. It's much easier than you think!
Blair is a Seattle, Washington-based modern quilt maker, author, DIY risk taker, teacher, thrift store junkie, and detail-obsessed hand maker. She is inspired by up cycling old and “preloved” fabrics into new quilts, creating offbeat, unusual combinations of color and pattern. She pulls from these inspirations, as well as her background in the textile and apparel design industry, to create quilts, quilted pillows, easy to follow quilt patterns, and other DIY projects you’ll find at her website Wise Craft Handmade. Her first book, Wise Craft: Using Thrift Store Finds, Scraps of Fabric, and Natural Objects into Stuff You Love, was published in March 2014, and she is currently working on her second book, Wise Craft Quilts: A Guide to Turning Beloved Fabric Into Meaningful Patchwork, will be published in Spring 2017. She works in a white basement studio, in a home she shares with her husband, two teenagers, and a fat kitty.
