Welcome to the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild!

Our mission is to promote the art of modern quilting in the Dallas area. We offer educational demonstrations/workshops, swap and challenge opportunities, and charitable community outreach.

Membership is open to quilters of all skill levels and we pride ourselves in creating a positive, welcoming atmosphere for new and experienced quilters alike.

As a member of the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild, you’ll have access to our private, members only site! Members view detailed events on our Guild calendar, participate in discussion forums, have access to our group photo albums, and more! Members also receive first priority to attend events such as Saturday Sew, annual Retreat, and workshops.

When joining Dallas MQG, please use your full name as your Meetup ID. This helps us match check or PayPal dues payments with members and it also assists us in maintaining an accurate membership roster for our 501(c)3 filings.

$40 annual dues cover website costs and supplies for workshops and events. Dues are payable each June. New members are invited to attend two DMQG events before becoming a dues paying member. Please pay dues by check to our Treasurer or by our Paypal link.

Half Price Books is located on Northwest Highway/Loop 12 one block east of Central Expressway. Each meeting focuses on a new topic with a different swap, presentation, demonstration, or challenge. In November and December, we will meet earlier in the month at an alternate locations so as not to conflict with the holidays. You can find out program information and upcoming meeting dates on our Facebook page and on our blog. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY SEWS What could be more fun than quilting with friends? We have cutting and ironing stations as well as large work spaces ready for you! Just bring your project and machine! Saturday Sew and Sunday Sew dates are posted on Meetup, our Facebook page and on our blog. HANDWORK TUESDAYS New for 2013 are Handwork Tuesdays! The perfect time to work on all you put aside hand-sewing such as hexies, embroidery, binding and anything else you can think of that does not require a sewing machine. This super fun social time takes place on the second Tuesday of the month at the location listed on our Meetup page. CHARITABLE PROJECTS INITIATIVE The hospice program at Presbyterian Plano is our charity of choice. In addition to finished lap-size quilts and quilt tops, we also accept donations of: batting, fabric, backings, and quilting services. Please contact our Community Service Chair, Laurie Thompson for more information. BI-ANNUAL RETREAT Each May and November, our members enjoy a little piece of heaven when they attend our bi-annual retreats! They are the perfect time to build camaraderie, learn from each other, and strengthen our friendships! Quilting + friendship = too much fun!!!! Retreats are a perfect time to finish those UFOs [unfinished objects], special projects, and community service lap quilts. Spaces are limited and fill up quickly. DMQG members receive priority reservations. For more information on our retreats, please contact our Event Chairperson, Rachel Bryan.
