Stair Railing by Kendra Biddle, 2014
Inspired by an image of a hand railing with bright red contrast against gray and beige neutral background colors by Thomas Demand, I wanted to eliminate the additional visual information and distill the image to the single hand rail. Still using a neutral background, though only one single color, I exchange the single red hue with three neons with the quilting echoing the center line. Designing the construction of this quilt began by laying out neon strips in their final placement and breaking up the quilt into smaller sections, all while creating thew fewest breaks within the background as possible. Auburn, Maine, United States 50.5" x 77.5"

Evening Star by Abigail Fuller, 2014
Inspired by an antique quilt top seen in a local exhibit several decades ago. It stuck with me that much. To modernize the design I used one star and wider strips within the star. The quilting design is my own, done on my home machine. Michael Miller fabrics, cotton batting, quilted with Isacord thread. Deary, Idaho, United States Deary, Idaho, United States

September Dawn by Kathryn Upitis, 2014
"September Dawn - Modern Kerr Inspired by the hometown painter Illingworth Kerr and turning his painting into a modern quilt with Michael Miller" Calgary, Alberta, CANADA 53.5" x 83"

E Quilt by Cynthia Ann Morgan, 2014
Using the lustrous, luscious fabric in the Cotton Couture line, I played with the alphabet on both the front (letter E) and back (letter F)of the quilt. The letter E is not obvious except for the one block with background reversed. The binding is the reverse side of a Michael Miller print Boulder, Colorado, United States 41" x 49"
